My Position at the BBC in Central LondonI was here 1999 - 2000 This was a contract position, my contract was renewed twice and they also offered me a full-time position. I was using VB6, SQL-Server 6.5 & 7, VbScript, ASP, HTML, Com/Dcom, MTS, IIS, and Access. My main project was a Staff & Contact management system. The role involved the complete project lifecycle : Meeting with the users to determine their requirements, specifying the system, designing and creating the database, producing the complete system as a 3-tier client-server application, coding the front-end Visual Basic, coding the back-end Stored Procedures, unit and system testing, populating the system with data from a variety of sources, initial delivery and user acceptance testing, rollout and ongoing support. The Staff and Contact management system stored full profiles of people: names, multiple-addresses, telno, fax, email-address, career history, interests, projects, diaries, photographs, position, department, location, date-of-birth, events etc. I later added an intranet web front-end to the application using VbScript & jScript with ASP components, IIS and MTS. While I was there, I also worked on a replacement access-control security system that was rolled-out to all the BBC buildings in the UK.I also did some work on a large Oracle based system that was being used to manage all the copyright clearances. |
