My Position at the PRS in Central London(Performing Right Society)
I was here from 1998 - 1999 This was a contract position, my contract was renewed twice. I was using VB 5 & 6, SQL-Server 6.5 & 7, Oracle 8, and Com/Dcom My main project was a live music royalty management system The role involved the migration and major enhancement of a system from Dbase/Clipper to Visual Basic/SQL-Server. Because eventual database platform was uncertain, system was developed as 3-tier client/server to render the front-end development independent of the DBMS. Use of DCOM also investigated. I was also used in a consultative capacity for investigation of other systems for year-2000 compliance and for developing site standards for VB and SQL-Server systems development. I also developed an automated test tool suite to load-test applications. Aided development of automated build/release/test cycle for major Oracle development and rolled-out the use of Quick Address (QAS) to clean customer address database with fuzzy logic matching. |
